A museum for Gergovia
The Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergovia opened its doors in October 2019, on the plateau of Gergovia, at the eastern end of the old Arverne oppidum.
The museum is part of the public interest group (GIP) « Gergovie, Cité des Gaulois » (Gergovia, City of the Gauls), led by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Puy-de-Dôme Department, Mond’Arverne Communauté, Clermont Auvergne Métropole, the town of La Roche-Blanche and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Tourisme, with the support of Europe, the French State and Inrap.

This organisation works to protect, promote and develop tourism for the Arvernian archaeological sites of Gergovia, Corent, Gondole and the Caesar’s Camps.
Gergovia and the Arvernian sites are among the steps of a discovery itinerary of Gallic archaeology in France, which also includes the National Archaeology Museum of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the Bibracte Museum and the MuséoParc Alésia.
The permanent team of the museum currently has 15 people.
