European Heritage Days: free activities at the Gergovia’s museum

On 19 and 20 September, come and reconnect with your history during the European Heritage Days in Auvergne and the Puy-de-Dôme. For the occasion, the Archaeological Museum of the Battle of Gergovia invites you to (re)discover the Gaulish past and go behind the scenes of archaeological research during a whole weekend of activities, completely free of charge! Explore the museum at your own pace, enjoy a guided tour of the temporary exhibition, and embark on a journey aboard the Archéobus, our shuttle bus for a guided tour taking you from Gergovia to the oppidum of Corent via Gondole and Caesar’s camps.

  • Self-guided museum visit: 19-20 September, from 1 p.m to 6 p.m
  • Guided tour of the temporary exhibition “Cut from Gallic cloth. Costume and jewellery in Gaul”: 19 September, at 11 a.m. (duration : 1h)

Autumn holidays: the activities of the Gergovia’s museum

Gergovie automne

After the back-to-school rush, it’s time to slow down, relax and have fun during an autumn getaway in the heart of Auvergne. Come and unwind while discovering the region’s history at one of its most iconic sites: the Gergovie Plateau. To help you make the most of this historic setting, the Gergovie Museum offers a programme of activities that will bring the fascinating daily life of the Gauls back to life, as well as the epic Battle of Gergovia. Choose our guided tour “Gergovia, in the heart of the Battle” to relive the adventures of the confrontation between Vercingetorix and Caesar, and set off on a journey aboard the Archéobus.
